Stephanie would like to meet the character Dean West, from the novel Accomplice by Eireann Corrigan, in real life. “He gives people a chance even though they never did the same for him. I find that admirable.”
Kelsey would like to meet the character Primrose Everdeen, from The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, in real life. “Meeting Prim would allow me to feel her courage, her spirit, and her strength. She is an intelligent and resourceful individual, and has a passion for helping those in need.”

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Beauty Queens Writing Contest. We’re very excited about all the submissions we’ve received!
The judges have voted and a Beauty Queen has been named! Congratulations Bree from Ohio!
Bree won us over with her essay about going from follower to Beauty Queen. Here’s an excerpt:
“And then, it happened. The first days of school came and went, and guess what? I survived! It was these days, these glorious days, when I came to realize that, that ‘Beautiful, like-able, funny, socially perfect girl that everyone wanted as their best friend,’ didn’t exist! I learned that there is no such thing as ‘perfect,’ and that everyone has flaws. It has taken a lot of work, and a lot of time, but this year I am discovering myself again. I am erasing all the habits I have picked up by trying to become like others, and am starting with a clean slate. Believe me, it’s not easy, but I am learning to be that person that I most want to be…me. That’s why I’m a beauty queen.”
